I’ve recently gotten back into reading – a beloved practice that I somehow got away from over the past five months or so. I thought a fun way of doing this would be to start sharing the books I’ve read at the end of every month.
So, let’s jump right into the books I read this June!
“Your vitality, body, financial condition, friends, and social status represent a perfect reflection of the idea you have of yourself.”
I had never heard of this book until I read it. It was a random find by my ex at the bookstore, and I’m the one who ended up with it.
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind isn’t the most exciting read, but a lot of the information in this book is stuff I would consider life-changing – especially if you’re just getting into understanding the law of attraction and don’t yet understand how freakin’ powerful your own mind is!
It took me a little while to read this one, because I honestly found the beginning chapters a bit repetitive. I think that you’d have a different experience if you are coming into reading this book without any understanding of the subconscious mind at all. But, because I’ve done a lot of the research and reading already, I didn’t appreciate the constant repetition.
Another thing that I found a bit difficult to get through were some of the anecdotes. Yes, some were super empowering. Others, though, were a bit…corny?
With all of that being said, however, I’d still recommend this book to anyone looking for some empowerment. I definitely walked away from reading it feeling like I was more aligned with the divinity and universal intelligence within me. I felt powerful – like I was really starting to embrace the fact that I could do and become anything.
The chapters in the book each go over how to use your subconscious mind in different areas of your life. How to use it to heal your body, how to attract opportunities, how to forgive (the forgiveness chapter was a personal favorite of mine!). This makes it easy to skip some of the repetitive parts I mentioned before and simply read the chapters that interest you.
All-in-all, I learned a lot from this book – especially the final chapters – and I feel that it gives a super intelligent explanation of the law of attraction that is less magic and more science.
“Here’s the thing that makes me so excited to be alive on planet Earth as a human being with a conscious mind: We have the power to participate in the realm of reality that goes far beyond what our truth blueprint tells us, what our five senses tell us….And the way we blast beyond this limited realm is with our thoughts.”
Okay, this book I really freakin’ loved.
Not only was it packed full of valuable and empowering information, but it was also a complete joy to read. Sincero is humorous and down-to-earth. I felt more like I was taking advice from a super supportive but tell-it-like-it-is friend than reading a book by a total stranger.
I had seen everyone and their mother talking about the first book, You are a Badass, for quite some time, and it was high up on my reading list. By the time I got back into reading, however, I had just thrown myself completely into my career and thought that this second book would speak to me more.
What I appreciate so much about this book is that it really helped me tackle some of my own weird beliefs about money that I didn’t even realize were affecting me. The book encourages you to really dig deep into your own relationship with money and completely re-frame it.
I also appreciate that Sincero doesn’t leave out the very important “inspired action” part of the manifesting money equation. Why do so many law of attraction writers always forget that!? The book makes it clear that – as important as faith and visualization and manifesting is – you aren’t going to get very far if you don’t get off the couch and make something happen for yourself!
If you’re looking for some best-friend level tough-love, some good laughs, and the motivation to finally take your career and life into your own hands, then I highly recommend this book – especially for those of you trying to create businesses of your own!
I’m hoping to read more than just two books in July, so if you have any recommendations leave them in the comments! I’m a complete bookworm and open to any and all suggestions, but I’m especially into self-development, spirituality, and the law of attraction right now.
Thanks for reading!
